COUNSELORS

  • All Counselors shall be 21 years of age, be a born-again Christian, and have been a member of participating church for six months. Prospective counselors under 21 must be approved by Bobby Grubbs.
  • All Counselors shall be submissive to the leadership of their local church and the BPYC Board and Committees.
  • No Counselor shall be undergoing church discipline at the participating church, nor any church where which they were previously a member.
  • No Counselor shall involve him or herself with any pranks involving any camper at BPYC.
  • Prolonged nudity is unacceptable. Counselors shall be clothed immediately following showering.
  • All first-time Counselors shall undergo, at the expense of their church, a background check; however, said participant will be excluded from this policy if they are currently employed by an entity that requires a background check for employment, provided the employee is not under investigation for wrongdoing.
  • Any suspicious activity or interaction between a Counselor and a camper shall be reported immediately to the Security Director. All reports will be investigated and are subject to reporting to Social Services.
  • No Counselor shall lay in a bunk with another individual. 
  • You are responsible for the safety and welfare of all campers in your assigned group throughout BPYC. You must see that all campers abide by the camp policies and schedules. You must also ensure that all campers maintain good habits such as eating, personal hygiene, proper dress, acceptable talk, good behavior, etc.
  • You must know the whereabouts of your campers at all times. It is recommended that you set times to meet with your group throughout the day.
  • You must reside in the barracks with your assigned group.
  • You must see that the barracks are properly cleaned each day. Also, be sure the group completes grounds clean-up duty when assigned.
  • You must be familiar with all camp policies and procedures.
  • You must become acquainted with each camper in your group.
  • You must refrain from rough-housing, pranks, and petty arguments with campers.
  • You must encourage the spiritual growth of each camper within your group. You must conduct daily devotions with your group and make every effort to ensure all campers cultivate a relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • You are encouraged to work the altars during the worship services. Campers should be informed that they are expected to remain in the service and maintain a reverent attitude of worship until dismissed. Please note: If the camper should need to leave the service for any reason, they must be accompanied by a counselor.
  • You must lead by example in Christian conduct and dress.
  • From the time a camper registers with you, they are your responsibility.
  • You must ensure that your campers remain quiet after “lights out”.
  • You must maintain consistent discipline with fairness at all times. You are encouraged to be friendly and cheerful with campers, yet firm if the occasion should arise when discipline is needed. However, at no time should physical force be used.
  • In the event of minor violations of camp rules, it is the responsibility of the counselor, Camp Directors, and Disciplinary Oversight Committee to handle such violations with love and prayer. Disciplinary actions may include, but is not limited to, work detail such as sweeping floors, picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, etc. Discipline must never include physical punishment.
  • All major disciplinary action is the responsibility of the Disciplinary Oversight Committee.
  • The BPYC Directors reserve the right to dismiss any adult participant from the grounds due to inappropriate behavior, insubordination to the BPYC and/or ACH Staff, or unwillingness to complete assigned tasks.

VOLUNTEERS

  • All Volunteers shall be 19 years of age, be a born-again Christian, and have been a member of participating church for six months.
  • All Volunteers shall be submissive to the leadership of their local church and the BPYC Board and Committees.
  • No Volunteer shall be undergoing church discipline at the participating church, nor any church where which they were previously a member.
  • No Volunteer shall involve him or herself with any pranks involving any camper at BPYC.
  • Prolonged nudity is unacceptable. Volunteers shall be clothed immediately following showering.
  • All first-time Volunteers shall undergo, at the expense of their church, a background check; however, said participant will be excluded from this policy if they are currently employed by an entity that requires a background check for employment, provided the employee is not under investigation for wrongdoing.

  • All Volunteers are required to attend a daily meeting held by the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • You will be assigned your daily task(s) at this meeting.
  • You may be called upon to perform additional tasks on an “as needed” basis. 
  • The BPYC Directors reserve the right to dismiss any adult participant from the grounds due to inappropriate behavior, insubordination to the BPYC and/or ACH Staff, or unwillingness to complete assigned tasks.
